YOUR EVENING CLEANSE

Cleansing oil for taking off the day’s makeup

Massage onto dry skin, add water, and rinse. Meet our oil-to-milk cleanser.

Taking your makeup off is often the last thing you feel like doing after a long day. A cleanser with a straightforward method makes that evening step easier to follow.

Our Soothing Cleansing Oil & Face Wash starts as an oil, then turns milky when you add water. You massage it onto dry skin and rinse it away. It’s one bottle, designed for removing makeup and sunscreen, with no cotton pads needed for the application.

New to cleansing oil? Start with dry skin

If you’re used to splashing your face before cleansing, this is the part to change. Our cleansing oil goes onto dry skin first. Water comes in after the massage, when you turn the oil into a milky emulsion.

Keep a towel nearby and move your hair away from your face before you begin. Then you can finish the whole step at the basin without reaching around with cleanser on your hands.

Here’s the method from our cleanser directions. Follow the amount shown on your pack.

  1. Massage onto dry skin

Use your fingertips and a gentle touch to work the oil over the areas you’re cleansing.

  2. Add a little water

Continue the gentle massage as the oil turns milky. This is the emulsifying step, before the final rinse.

  3. Rinse and pat dry

Rinse thoroughly, then gently pat your face dry with a soft towel. Continue with your evening skincare.

Why the milky step matters

Oil-to-milk describes the change you’ll see during use. Adding a little water and working it through the cleanser is different from immediately splashing everything off. Give the texture time to turn milky, then rinse.

You don’t need to turn this into a long facial massage. Follow the method on the pack and keep the pressure gentle. A fuller makeup look is not a reason to rub harder.

The three stages

Stage

What you do

Oil

Apply to dry skin and massage gently.

Milk

Add water and work it through the cleanser.

Rinse

Wash the cleanser away and pat dry.

One bottle. A second cleanse is optional.

The name “dual cleanser” refers to this single oil-to-milk product. It isn’t a kit with a separate face wash. Our product directions describe a second cleanse as optional.

If you already like using a separate face wash after makeup removal, this can be the first step in that routine. If you’re shopping for one rinse-off cleanser, you don’t have to add a second bottle because of the word “dual”.

What about waterproof mascara or long-wear makeup?

When you’re choosing a cleansing oil for removing makeup, the products in your makeup bag matter too. Long-wear and specialist formulas can have their own removal instructions, particularly around the eyes. Keep those instructions alongside the cleanser’s directions.

Match the removal method to your makeup

What you wore

What to keep in mind

Everyday face makeup

Use the dry-skin massage, milky emulsifying step and thorough rinse.

Long-wear or waterproof makeup

Follow the makeup product’s removal instructions; one cleanser cannot promise the same result for every formula.

Eye makeup

Use a removal method suitable for the eye-area product you’re wearing.

Whatever you use, keep the touch gentle. The American Academy of Dermatology advises against scrubbing and recommends a lukewarm rinse and gentle drying. For this cleanser, remember that the application starts on dry skin.

A note on the ingredients

The formula contains squalane and fragrance. If you’re looking for a fragrance-free cleanser, this one won’t meet that requirement. You can read the complete ingredient list on the product page before ordering.

Once you’ve rinsed, go back to the evening products you already use. There’s no need to build a whole new routine around a different cleanser.
